A 50-year-old woman providing budgeting advice to needy people has pleaded guilty to raiding their funds to the tune of $14,000.
Appearing before Judge Mary O'Dwyer in the Masterton District Court last Thursday the woman, who has interim name suppression on medical grounds, pleaded guilty to eight charges of theft by a person in a special relationship. She is facing 10 counts of stealing from clients of a budgeting service to the tune of $14,300.
They were putting money into an account the woman had control of to pay clients' bills but instead of paying the bills she withdrew the money for herself.
She is due back in court on January 20 to plead to two remaining charges.
