A young woman was stabbed at a Fiordland bar early this morning.
Police said the 27-year-old woman was taken to Southland Hospital with stab wounds after the serious assault in Te Anau.
A 40-year-old Te Anau woman was arrested in relation to the assault and would appear in Invercargill District Court tomorrow.
Police said an earlier report that the stabbing was the result of a fight was incorrect.
The Invercargill CIB was investigating.
