KEY POINTS:
A 25-year-old woman drowned after climbing the fence of the Havelock North village swimming pool with a companion in the early hours of this morning and going for a swim.
Hastings police received a call at 3.30am but attempts to resuscitate the woman, who lives locally, were unsuccessful. It is believed the woman had been drinking.
She was named as Sheree Margaret Robson.
Also today, police found the body of the diver missing off Motiti Island near Mt Mauganui since Friday.
She was Catherine Elizabeth Kells, 29, of Waikato.
Six people have drowned since Christmas Day.
The family of a six-year-old boy who drowned on Boxing Day after tumbling from his bike in a campground have asked that his name not be released.
Ashley Atofa Patai-Vaisigano, 15, of Napier died on Thursday while trying to help his dog out of the Waikato River.
Richard Tautolo, 36, a pastor at the Hope Church in Porirua drowned on Christmas Day after being swept down the Waiwhakaiho River in Taranaki.
Also on Boxing Day, Anthony Kasupene, 52, drowned at Tolaga Bay north of Gisborne when his boat hit a rock 30m from shore.
A total of 91 people drowned in 2006 but this year's toll will be higher. The rolling annual average of the past decade is 126 deaths.
