Woman shot with airgun from passing car

A woman was shot in the leg in what appeared to be a drive-by attack in the Auckland suburb of Birkdale tonight.

Inspector Jacqui Whittaker said the woman had been shot with a slug or air gun, and was being treated at the scene. She did not require hospitalisation, Ms Whittaker told NZPA.

Police were canvassing the area, building a description of the attacker and the vehicle and talking to witnesses at the scene.
