Woman shot in Otaki house dies

A 23-year-old woman shot yesterday at Otaki Beach, north of Wellington, has died of her injuries this morning.

Police have launched a homicide investigation and would like to hear from anyone who was in the Ngaio Street area around 4pm.

Emergency services were called to an address around 4.10pm where a woman had been shot. The woman was flown to Wellington Hospital but died in the early hours of this morning.

A 26-year-old man is due to appear in the Levin District Court today for firearms related offences.

Police will not be commenting on the woman's injuries as a post mortem is yet to be carried out.

The woman's name will be released once family members have been advised.
