An Auckland woman who encouraged her dogs to attack police and kicked in the windscreen of a patrol car was sentenced to 300 hours community work today.
In Papakura District Court Tania Leanne Stewart, 27, was convicted of assault with a weapon, intentional damage, disorderly behaviour and resisting police.
She was also ordered to pay almost $700 in reparations.
The court was told that police who were called to a domestic incident in Papakura on January 10 were met by "an intoxicated and aggressive" Stewart who encouraged two pitbull-type dogs to attack them.
As the officers retreated to their patrol car, the woman jumped on the bonnet and smashed the windscreen with her feet. A destruction order was issued in relation to the two dogs involved in the incident.
