As southerners flock to the movie The World's Fastest Indian, a Nelson woman has scored a motorcycle helmet associated with the film.
The helmet was not used in the shoot but was signed by lead actor Sir Anthony Hopkins, who also wrote the name of the film on it.
The head-piece failed to reach an $850 reserve on an internet site on Friday when auctioned by an Invercargill-based group raising money for orphans in Romania.
But it was snapped up by a Nelson woman when a fixed price of $750 was set for those who had bid.
Southlanders have seen the movie in record numbers since its debut last week. Reading Cinema manager Neville Cook said opening night attendances in Invercargill topped the country and were continuing to be strong.
