KEY POINTS:
A woman is in hospital with "severe injuries to her legs" after she was run over by her partner early today, police said.
Senior Sergeant Warwick Morehu said the incident happened at 3.30am today, on the corner of Richard and Church Streets in Opotiki.
The woman was taken to Whakatane hospital with a possible broken leg.
He said a young man -- understood to be her partner -- had been charged with careless driving causing injury.
The man had failed a breath test after the crash.
He had been released on bail to appear at Opotiki District Court on May 1.
