A woman has been flown to hospital after she was run over by her own car on Great Barrier Island yesterday.
A Westpac Rescue Helicopter spokeswoman said a crew was called to the woman's home shortly after 11am.
"The patient, in her 40s, had been outside her home when her car rolled. She attempted to jump inside and apply the handbrake but her clothing got caught and she was pulled under the car, with the wheel rolling over her torso."
She was driven by car to the airfield and flown to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition.
The woman is in a stable condition today.
