Police are seeking help from the public after a woman was threatened and robbed while she waited for a train in Lower Hutt this morning.
The woman was standing on the platform at Naenae station between 6.30 and 7am when a man armed with a length of timber approached her and demanded money.
He threatened that he would hurt her if he did not hand over cash.
The woman gave him a small amount of money and he ran off through the station subway, dropping the timber as he went, said Constable Rebekah Pickett, of Upper Hutt police.
The woman was extremely shaken by the attack but continued on her way to work in Upper Hutt, where she called police.
The man was described as a Maori or Pacific Islander in his 20s, of tall and thin build, wearing dark large sunglasses, an open dark-coloured jacket, and possibly jeans.
Police would like to hear from anyone fitting that description seen near Naenae station this morning.
