A woman has been rescued from her burning bed after an apartment fire in central Auckland.
Emergency services were called to the 'Madison on the Square' apartment block in Federal Street earlier this morning.
Fire Officer Wayne Bridger says about 40 people were taken out of the building while officers put out the fire and cleared the smoke.
He says one woman was rescued from a burning room.
She has been taken to hospital with burns and smoke inhalation.
Wayne Bridger says everyone except those on the third floor have now been allowed back in as the fire is out and the smoke has been cleared.
He says crews are still working on the third floor and fire safety officers are investigating.
