A Wairarapa labourer who punched and then stomped on a woman while she was lying on the ground was convicted of common assault.
Lee Les O'Donovan, 35, pleaded guilty to two charges of common assault, which were against two women, in Masterton District Court last week.
Prosecuting sergeant Jodie Lawrence said the incident occurred on February 26 at a Featherston address.
O'Donovan had been drinking and went to the address of one of the victims, she told him to leave and he responded by grabbing her by the hair and punching her to the face twice. He then punched the other victim in the face, causing her to fall over, and stomped on her.
Judge Tom Broadmore said a victim impact statement suggested ongoing dramas between the people involved and called for a pre-sentencing report.
