KEY POINTS:
The middle-aged woman hit by a car in the Auckland suburb of East Tamaki last night has died.
She was Patricia Gilliland, of Howick.
She was taken to hospital in a critical condition where she had emergency surgery but died.
Police said the driver of the vehicle was helping with the inquiry into the woman's death.
