An elderly woman on a mobility scooter suffered serious leg and chest injuries when she was hit by a van in Dunedin yesterday.
Acting Senior Sergeant Dave Scott said the 78-year-old Woodhaugh Rest Home resident was crossing the road on her mobility scooter when she was hit by the van.
She was taken to hospital where she underwent surgery.
Mr Scott said it appeared the driver of the van had failed to see the woman and the sun may have been an issue.
