A woman has been charged with attempted murder after she and two children were hospitalised with suspected carbon monoxide poisoning early this morning.
Detective Sergeant Mark Keane said police were called to a Riccarton, Christchurch, address about 1am today and found the woman and two children, aged five and seven.
"All three were taken to hospital as a result of suspected carbon monoxide poisoning," Mr Keane said.
The 30-year-old woman was discharged from Christchurch hospital this morning and charged with two counts of attempted murder.
The children were recovering well and were expected to be released into the care of relatives later today.
A scene examination was expected to be completed today, he said.
Police would also speak to neighbours and associates of the woman but said no one else was being sought in connection with the incident.
The woman will appear in Christchurch District Court on Monday.
