Police have named a woman killed in a head-on crash which closed State Highway 1 in Southland today.
She was Jamie Michaela Banks, 22, of Dunedin.
It appeared two cars collided after one crossed the centreline while attempting to pass a truck near Pukerau, about 10km north of Gore, about 6.45am, said Sergeant Stan Leishman of Gore police.
Rain, wet roads, spray from the truck and overcast conditions also contributed to the crash, he said.
Two men suffered chest injuries and were in a stable condition, Mr Leishman said.
SH1 was closed until shortly before midday.
