Woman killed in east Auckland named

Police have named a woman killed in her east Auckland home on Sunday evening.

Titiksha Uday Desai, 45, died from injuries sustained in an attack, reported to be a stabbing, at her Aberfeldy Ave property in Highland Park.

A 47-year-old man appeared in Manukau District Court on Tuesday charged with her murder.

He has been remanded in custody with interim name suppression and will reappear in the court on the March 9.

The results of a post mortem examination on the exact nature and cause of Ms Desai's injuries will not be released as the matter is before the courts, police said

Charge Detective Senior Sergeant Albie Alexander said police were still conducting a scene examination at the Aberfeldy Ave house and expected to be at the scene for a another day.

"The scene will remain cordoned off and scene guards will remain in place until such time as the examination is complete."

Next of kin have been informed of Ms Desai's death.
