A 37-year-old woman who crashed her car and killed a woman while high on methamphetamine [P] has been jailed.
Janine Elizabeth Carter earlier admitted one charge of driving with evidence of a controlled drug causing death of Maureen Joan Davies which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years' prison or $20,000 fine.
She was jailed for three years and two months by Judge Philip Connell in the Hamilton District Court today.
Mrs Davies husband Stan read his victim impact statement to the court and said he had been left a "lonely man" since his beloved wife had left his side.
Just before the fatal crash, multiple vehicles had to swerve to avoid Carter as she veered across the road, swerving in front of traffic.
