A woman whose car left the road south of Christchurch on Sunday died after suffering a cardiac episode and not from injuries caused by the crash, say police.
The 47-year old woman's car left the Main South Road at Islington, just south of Christchurch, about 3.15pm on Sunday.
Canterbury road policing manager Inspector Al Stewart said a pathologist's report had confirmed she died after from natural causes.
"It appears the woman suffered a cardiac episode, as a result of which the vehicle veered left off the road and through a fence, coming to rest after a minor collision with a shed," Mr Stewart said.
