KEY POINTS:
A woman charged with abducting a five-week-old baby boy has appeared in court.
The infant was left in the care of his mother's friend Cindy Knox, who failed to return him as planned.
Knox stood in the dock with her head firmly bowed throughout the brief hearing.
Her lawyer asked for name suppression, saying Knox has mental health issues which need to be addressed.
Judge McCardy declined the application. He said Cindy Knox's name had been heavily used by all media throughout the weekend and name suppression was pointless.
Knox has been remanded on bail and will reappear in court later this month.
