Woman hurt in crash near Ohakune

A woman has been seriously injured in a crash on State Highway 47, north of Ohakune.

Police communications Inspector Paul Jermy said two cars were involved in the accident, near the National Park township shortly after midday.

The woman was trapped and the road had been closed to allow a helicopter to land.

A man was also involved but had escaped without injury.

Mr Jermy said it appeared two doctors who had most likely been passing by were helping out at the scene.
