Upset at her partner's constant lies, Pania Elia went to the bar where he was drinking, picked up his beer glass and threw it at him, before she repeatedly punched him in the face.
Appearing before Judge Ian Mill in Masterton District Court on Thursday, the 26-year-old woman pleaded guilty to assault with a glass as a weapon and assault and was sentenced to nine months' supervision. The judge ordered a final protection order in favour of her partner.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Garry Wilson said on October 10, Elia and her partner got into an argument and they went out drinking separately.
Angry with her partner, she went to the Kuripuni garden bar where he was drinking, approached him and picked up his glass, and threw it at his face.
Mr Wilson said she then punched him two to three times in the face, which caused his nose to bleed. The assault only stopped when staff intervened and asked her to leave.
