A woman who allegedly returned a breath-test more than four times the legal limit was so drunk she was in the passenger seat of her car, trying to start the engine with the glovebox, witnesses told police.
Christchurch woman Lynda Cameron, 55, was stopped by police in St Albans on Monday after members of the public alerted them to her erratic mid-afternoon driving.
She returned a breath alcohol test of 1910mcg, one of the highest recorded in Christchurch, according to police. The legal limit is 400mcg.
They said she had already been banned from driving after being caught in St Albans on Thursday with a breath alcohol reading of 1470mcg.
On Monday she stopped outside a St Albans pharmacy and a staff member told police she saw Cameron sitting in the passenger seat with her keys, trying to start the car using the glovebox as if it were the ignition.
