Woman found dead in her Pahiatua home

Police have launched a homicide inquiry after a 33-year-old woman was found dead in her home in the north Wairarapa town of Pahiatua early today.

Senior Sergeant Tony Johnstone of Pahiatua Police said the woman's body was found just after midnight.

A 32-year-old man is assisting police with inquiries. Police are not actively seeking anybody else in connection with the inquiry.

Some of the victim's family have been advised of her death but police said no names would be released.

A scene examination is underway and inquiries with neighbours will continue.
