A woman was arrested at Wellington Airport yesterday after being found with more than $400,000 worth of drugs in her possession.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Warwick McKee said the woman was arrested at around 2.30pm after arriving on a flight from Auckland.
"When the woman was located, police seized close to 400 grams of the Class A controlled drug methamphetamine, which has a street value of $400,000," said Mr McKee.
She also had 100 Ecstasy tablets - a Class B controlled drug - and 45 tabs of Class A LSD with a combined street value of around $10,000.
Mr McKee said the "significant seizure" of methamphetamine would have a direct impact on the supply of the drug in Wellington and would send a message that "we will continue to come down hard on those criminals that manufacture and distribute these drugs".
A 54-year-old woman will appear in Wellington District Court later today facing a number of charges, including possession of methamphetamine for supply, possession of LSD for supply and possession of ecstasy for supply.
