A woman was thrown three metres down a bank when she was struck by a vehicle in the Wellington suburb of Wainuiomata this morning.
Wellington Free Ambulance spokeswoman Diane Livingston said a 32-year-old woman was assessed at the scene as being in a serious condition and was flown by Lifeflight Rescue Helicopter to Wellington Hospital.
The woman had a fractured arm and minor head injuries, but ambulance staff always erred on the side of caution with head injuries, Livingston said.
A hospital spokesman said the woman was still being assessed in the emergency department.
A police spokesman told the New Zealand Herald emergency services were alerted just before 6am.
