A dance floor fall earned a woman a helicopter ride to Wellington Hospital early today.
The Wellington-based Westpac rescue helicopter was called to Furneaux Lodge in the Marlborough Sounds about 12.30am.
The call came after a 19-year-old woman suffered a neck injury after a fall.
"Apparently the woman slipped while dancing and fell to the floor quite hard," said Westpac rescue helicopter crewman Dave Greenberg.
"She had a lot of pain in her neck and found it hard to move so the Furneaux Lodge staff did a great job by not moving her, making her as comfortable as possible and keeping her warm".
The helicopter, with a Wellington Free Ambulance paramedic on board, arrived at Furneaux about 1.15am and transported the woman back to Wellington Hospital after she was stabilised by the paramedic.
She was taken to the emergency department where she was being being treated and assessed.
