When police pulled over Annette Ina May Edwards, she was out to pick up some alcohol. No problem with that, but Edwards was already more than five times over the legal alcohol driving limit.
The 61-year-old stood tearfully in the dock at Whanganui District Court on Tuesday as police prosecutor Sergeant Rachel Willemsen read out the summary of facts.
Edwards had been driving along Anzac Pde on January 5 and when police stopped her she blew an evidential breath test of 1299mcg of alcohol per litre of breath. The limit for a conviction is 250 mcg.
She told police she was "just going out to buy more alcohol", Ms Willemsen said.
Judge David Cameron ordered a pre-sentence report with home detention and community detention appendices, and convicted Edwards.
