KEY POINTS:
A woman who went searching for her boyfriend after he failed to pick her up from work found him seriously injured trapped under his car early this morning, upside down in a paddock.
Westpac Rescue Helicopter spokesman Dave Greenberg said the woman had expected her boyfriend, a 23-year-old Wairarapa man, to pick her up around midnight and became worried when he never arrived.
A friend drove her home, and en route the pair found the car upside down in a paddock on Te Maire Rd, west of Martinborough, about 3.30am.
Mr Greenberg said the injured man was trapped under his car, and was pulled out by firemen.
He had received head and spinal injuries and was taken to Wellington Hospital.
