KEY POINTS:
A woman facing charges of abducting a child, threatening to kill and assault with a knife was remanded into the care of Hillmorton Hospital when she appeared in Christchurch District Court today.
The 33-year-old was not required to plead to the charges today and was remanded under the Criminal Procedures Mentally Impaired Persons Act until December 6.
Counsel Tony Greig successfully sought interim suppression of the woman's name and told the court it was appropriate for her to be remanded on bail to Hillmorton Hospital.
She was not a committed patient, he said.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Ash Tabb sought a bail condition preventing her from contacting the child at the centre of the alleged abduction, which was granted by Judge John Bisphan.
