A woman faces 23 charges of assault against five children when they were in her care over the past two years.
Judge Lisa Tremewan denied an application for name suppression when the woman, 29, appeared in Waitakere District Court in Auckland today.
However, after defence lawyer John Mackey said he had been instructed to lodge an appeal to the High Court, the judge granted interim name suppression.
The charges the woman faces include alleged assaults with items including a shoe and a belt.
The woman was remanded on bail to reappear on September 29 for a plea inquiry hearing.
