A woman has died after the ute she was travelling in rolled and crushed her.
The incident happened at about 5.28pm tonight in the Stratford Plateau car park on Mt Taranaki.
St John Taranaki district operations manager Ian May said it was believed the 30-year-old woman was riding in the back of the ute with two other passengers when it rolled, ending up on its side and crushing her.
He said bystanders managed to lift the ute off the woman by the time emergency services arrived.
She was flown to Taranaki base hospital by the rescue helicopter but died as a result of her injuries on route.
