Woman dies after hit by bus

A female pedestrian is dead after being hit by a bus in the Wellington suburb of Brooklyn this morning.

Emergency services were called at 8.36am after the collision at the intersection of Brooklyn Road and Washington Ave, central police communications Inspector Ken Climo said.

The woman was taken to Wellington Hospital in a critical condition and died a short time later, Stuff website reported.

Police, ambulance and the Fire Service were all at the scene, along with serious crash unit investigators.

Police were interviewing the bus driver and passengers.
