A Marlborough woman who was involved in a serious crash in Ashburton on Good Friday died a week later, police say.
Janet Ethel MacFarlane, 79, of Redwoodtown died in Christchurch Hospital on Friday.
Mrs MacFarlane had been a passenger in a vehicle involved in a head-on collision on Smallbone Drive about 12.30pm on April 18.
It was not yet confirmed whether her death was directly related to injuries sustained in the crash, or whether other medical factors may have contributed, police said.
Initial inquiries into the crash indicated the driver of an oncoming vehicle, a Holden Commodore, was travelling south on Smallbone Drive and crossed over the centre line into the path of the Honda Civic that Mrs MacFarlane was travelling in, police said.
