Woman dies after car hits power pole

One woman is dead and another seriously injured after a car hit a power pole in Silverdale north of Auckland last night.

Inspector Gavin MacDonald of the police northern communications centre said officers were alerted to the crash about 3.45am.

The injured woman was taken to North Shore Hospital.

Police are investigating.
