KEY POINTS:
A pedestrian has died after being hit by a train in Wellington, police have confirmed.
Spokeswoman Kirsty McDonald said the woman was in a tunnel when she was hit by the train, which was travelling between Johnsonville and Tawa, close to Middleton Road.
She said trains travelling on the line would be delayed for at least an hour.
