A woman has died following a 100 metre fall from a track near Wanaka.
Search and rescue teams were on the scene in the Motatapu Valley following reports of a person falling shortly after 12pm today.
The woman, who is believed to have been part of a walking group, was pronounced dead at the scene by medical staff, Acting Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen, of the Southern Police said.
Her name will not be released until next of kind have been informed, he said.
