A female passenger of a speeding vehicle which crashed near Taumarunui a week ago has died in hospital.
Emergency services were called to Manunui, near Taumarunui, last Friday, after a vehicle crashed into a power pole.
Sunnie Hughes, 34, from Taumarunui, was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash. She died in Waikato Hospital yesterday evening, police said.
Several witnesses saw the vehicle Ms Hughes was travelling in driving at significant speed before it collided with a power pole, police said.
The driver, a 29-year-old man, sustained minor injuries in the crash, and police were continuing to speak with him, and other witnesses.
