Woman denies blind neighbour threat

An Auckland woman accused of threatening to kill her blind neighbour and her guide dog has pleaded not guilty .

Margaret Hadley, 57, made a brief appearance in the Auckland District Court today charged with intent to frighten and threatening to injure and kill her neighbour, Margaret Martin, and her guide dog.

Kathryn Maxwell, acting on behalf of lawyer Dan Rawlings, requested a status hearing date, which was set for September 27.

Hadley was released on bail.

The women have been neighbours for about three decades in the Auckland suburb of Mt Albert.

Hadley has claimed it was a misunderstanding and she had in fact been yelling at about six young men outside her house, whom she feared may vandalise her Mt Albert home.
