Woman dead and man injured after domestic incident

Police investigating the death of a middle-aged woman in Silverdale say they believe they are dealing with a "domestic" incident.


Police and an ambulance were called to the house in Anvil Road in the industrial sector of Silverdale, 35km north of Auckland, about 1pm and found a woman dead, and a man with serious injuries.


The man was taken to North Shore Hospital in a serious condition.


Police spokesman Kevin Loughlin said police believed the incident was "domestic related".


No other person was being sought in relation to the incident.


Detectives were carrying out a forensic examination at the address and officers would remain at the scene overnight.


A post mortem examination on the body of the deceased woman will be carried out tomorrow.
