KEY POINTS:
Firefighters had to cut a woman from her car after it collided with a bus in the Auckland suburb of Ponsonby yesterday morning.
She was trapped for almost 30 minutes before crews were able to free her from the wreckage and she was taken to hospital for observation with serious, but not life threatening injuries.
There were no passengers on the bus when the crash happened on a corner of West End Rd in Ponsonby, but a diesel spill forced the closure of the road.
Attempts to contact Stagecoach chief executive Ross Martin last night were unsuccessful, but TV3 reported that the bus company said the driver was not to blame.
The accident is the second crash involving Stagecoach buses in the past fortnight after Rongfa Jiang, 53, was hit and killed on Dominion Rd more than a week ago.
Police are still considering whether to lay charges against the bus driver, who initially stopped, but then drove away from the accident site.
