Woman crushed by car

A woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being crushed by a car on Auckland's North Shore today.

Ambulance communications centre team manager Charlie Bougher said they were called to the scene on Balmain Rd, Birkenhead, about 1.20am.

Upon arrival officers found the woman injured after she was trapped between a car and a fence at the house.

NZPA understands the woman had left the car, which then moved forward and pinned her against the fence.

The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was taken to Auckland Hospital with serious injuries.
