A woman was crushed between two cars, while a police car was significantly damaged after it was jumped on and had bottles and cans thrown at it in two separate incidents involving groups of Taranaki boy racers.
Inspector Darin Haenga, Acting Taranaki Area Commander, says the incidents have left police feeling "extremely frustrated and concerned at the callous behaviour exhibited by people" at the "car event" in New Plymouth last night.
Hundreds of people breached level 2 alert level conditions by descending on Connett Rd and De Havilland Drive just before 10pm, with some doing skids and burnouts.
