A woman was critically injured when her car overturned in a crash on Kaihere Road near Kerepehi, south of Thames.
Police and emergency services are at the scene of the crash, and the woman driver has been airlifted to Middlemore Hospital in a critical condition after being removed from her overturned vehicle.
Road diversions are in place at the intersection of Kaihere and Ferry Road as well as Kaihere and Torahape Road East.
Police are advising motorists to avoid the area as there will be extensive delays.
