Police are continuing to investigate why a car with two people inside drove off the fourth storey of a carpark building in Auckland last night.
A 30-year-old woman is in a critical condition with severe head injuries and a 39-year-old man is in a serious but stable condition in Auckland City Hospital.
Police said the car appeared to have fallen from the carpark building on to York St in Newmarket at about 8.40pm with the two people still inside.
It plunged from the upper storey and landed upturned on top of another car which was parked in the street. No one was in the parked vehicle at the time.
The Police Serious Crash Unit was continuing its examination of the scene.
