KEY POINTS:
A woman charged with the manslaughter of an 18-month old toddler has failed in her bid to be released on bail.
The woman, 30, has been in custody since she was charged with manslaughter and abandoning a child whose body was found in Parua Bay near Whangarei in March.
In Whangarei District Court today name suppression for the woman was continued and her application to be released on bail with an electronic ankle band was rejected.
The baby's body was found in bush off Te Rongo Rd, Parua Bay and a post mortem examination showed the child had drowned.
The woman was due to appear again in court in August.
