KEY POINTS:
A middle-aged woman spent her brief few minutes in the dock at Tauranga District Court this afternoon mopping tears from her eyes.
Lesley Edwards, 50, unemployed, appeared before Judge Peter Rollo on a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The charge follows the stabbing of a man in the chest, head and arm at a Mt Maunganui house on Saturday night.
The judge remanded her on bail until March 12 for a pre-depositions hearing.
She will be subject to several special conditions including a nightly curfew from 7pm to 7am, residential and non-association clauses, no alcohol or illegal drugs, and a ban on contacting the complainant.
Among a handful of supporters in the public gallery were the defendant's two daughters.
The victim was in a stable condition in Tauranga Hospital today.
