A 23-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the hit-and-run that left an Auckland toddler in hospital last month.
Joseph Tuinukuafe was left unconscious and bleeding in the middle of a Sandringham road after being hit by a car on October 15.
A week after the incident, police seized a vehicle they believe was involved. It was parked at an address in a neighbouring suburb and registered to a woman officers spoke to on several occasions.
Police spokeswoman Noreen Hegarty says a woman has been arrested and charged with failing to stop and ascertain injury after an accident. She also faces a charge of making a false statement to police.
The woman, who has not been named, has been summonsed to appear in the Auckland District Court this month.
The injured 2-year-old has been discharged from the Starship and is making a good recovery.
