The woman whose car hit a group of cyclists on Tamaki Drive has been charged with careless driving causing injury.
The 20-year-old Auckland student will appear in the Auckland District Court in December on four counts of the offence - one for each of the riders she injured.
Auckland engineer Greg Paterson was critically injured in the crash on September 26 and is now in a rehabilitation unit.
Constable Mark Rodgers, crash analyst for the Auckland serious crash unit, said it would be a long, slow recovery.
Pickled Pedallers member John Carter said the other three riders, who suffered broken bones and cuts, were still not back at work fulltime.
Cycle Action Auckland co-chairwoman Barbara Cuthbert was relieved charges had been laid.
"The longer the matter went on without some resolution the more there were questions in the minds of the cycling community," she said.
"I have full confidence in their [police] ability to follow it through."
Police are still speaking to some of the riders and witnesses.
Mr Rodgers said the vehicle inspection report showed there were no issues with the woman's car.
Police are continuing their hunt for the driver who knocked North Shore GP Graham Robinson off his bike on Peak Rd near Helensville on October 14, killing him.
Orewa Detective Mark Palma said staff were following up information received from the public and checking the Transport Agency's vehicle registry for owners of a white or cream-coloured Toyota Hi-lux ute, probably a 1980s or 1990s model.
Mr Palma encouraged anyone with information on the white ute or the crash to phone the police on 0508 PEAK RD (0508 732-573).
