Woman charged over child assault

A baby boy is in a critical condition in Auckland's Starship Children's Hospital and a woman has been charged with his assault.

Police confirmed the baby was admitted on Thursday night but no details of his injuries were available.

A 22-year-old woman appeared in Manukau District Court on Friday charged with assaulting a child.
